AWS Irrigation installs Rainbird heads

Irrigation Management

Networking an irrigation system with the weather only makes sense.  If we water less on days that are cool, we will save water.  Locally we have many cool nights, even in the summer, which reduce our need for irrigation.  The systems we install also recognize higher than normal or lower than normal flow through individual valves, which helps us identify problems with the system same day, reducing landscape damage and water waste due to broken heads, pipes and valves.  A real person reviews the logs daily to ensure nothing is missed.

AWS Installs Rainbird sprinkler systemsWinner of Rain Bird’s Water Efficient Systems Contest in 2009, AWS knows a thing or two about proper installation and management of quality irrigation systems.

There are several levels of irrigation management.  The first would be to assess and/or audit your sprinkler system to make sure that it doesn’t have any fundamental problems.  AWS can provide full-scale catch-can audits and fully document your site, or cursory visual audits that cost much less but can give a good indication if further work is needed.  You can’t spend money on high-tech equipment until you have made your system as efficient as possible in the field.

AWS Installs Central Control SystemsOnce we have made repairs to restore the system’s efficiency, we can look at quick retrofits for low level on-site management, or if the site is large enough we can propose full management to optimize water usage without waste.

Quick retrofits include rain/freeze sensors, soil moisture sensors, or small stand-alone controllers that enable your system to water on an as-needed basis.  Does it bother you to see sprinklers running constantly in the rain?  It should!

Full management retrofits your system so that our trained staff can watch your system from our office.  The controller is connected to a phone line or internet WAN and synced with a weather source.  We can see how much it is watering, and if there are any problems in the field such as broken sprinkler heads, pipes or valves.  You are guaranteed to see a bid difference in your seasonal water usage!  You will also see a difference in service call times.  Since we can turn the system on and off without ever entering the building, it greatly reduces technicians time on site.
