Why does my backflow need tested?

AWS Irrigation Management Inc. have one goal in mind when we deal with backflows, keep your drinking water safe. Most municipalities in Ontario have laws that irrigation backflows need to be tested each year by a licenced tester. Backflow assemblies and devices have parts that can break down and wear out, just like the parts on your car. By having the backflow tested annually, you will help to ensure the drinking water supplied to your home remains safe.

AWS agrees with the growing number of municipalities that require testable backflow prevention devices and require them to be tested yearly.  To limit our liability, and yours, AWS will not service systems that have not had their backflow tested or installed.  If annual testing is not required in your community and the client does not want their backflow preventer tested, AWS will require a waiver to be signed by the client stating that they are fully aware of the dangers of backflow, and absolving AWS of any responsibility if drinking water contamination occurs. 

We have 5 Certified Backflow Specialists on staff, or you may source another company to do it, just as long as the unit has been tested.  We appreciate your understanding in this matter.  If you have any questions regarding this, please email backflow@awsi.ca.
